Self-help is help from within. You
are a creative genius, and you can use that inner resourcefulness to
empower and help your self to a better life. If you have already read my
creativity ideas and free articles on unleashing your
creative genius, you will appreciate
that the spirit of self-help
and personal
development runs strongly through them. It's no secret that I
believe that you contain and embody everything you need to live to your
fullest potential, happiness and bliss.
Self-help is a broad term that
encompasses the best qualities of pragmatism, resourcefulness and the
ability to cope with any problem and rise to any challenge. The
Victorian writer, Samuel Smiles voiced this term and spirit in his book
"Self Help" which was a rallying cry to the more unfortunate
people of Victorian Great Britian. Through the many examples he gave of
famous people of the day who had overcome great odds to achieve fame and
success, he sought to give encouragement and exhort others to follow
this example. Others, notably Margaret Thatcher's right hand man,
Norman Tebbit, have echoed this sentiment by calling on the unemployed
to "get on your bike!"
The spirit of self-help
and personal
development thrived amongst the American pioneers, and explains why
this country, more than any other, has embraced and perpetuated the
theme of self-help and personal growth so enthusiastically. And reaped
the rewards of self-improvement so successfully!
I have compiled a SELF-HELP
page that outlines the various resources available on the web
for self improvement and personal growth. We have split these
resources into different sections depending upon the area that you
are most interested in.
If you find any
other relevant self-help websites, please feel free to contact
us and tell us about them!
Self-development calls upon your personal inner genius, and
ultimately the only resource you need is a little confidence in your own
creativity to come up with the answers you need. If you want to get the
full lowdown on bootstrapping your creativity, genius and super
brainpower why don't you check out my creative
genius articles? They give
you the edge!

psychotherapeutic solutions from Dr Errol Gluck, author of: "Uncommon

introduction to the philosophy and psychology of Errolism whose primary
tenet is: Take full responsibility for your

recover the lost art of thinking. But Dr Gluck warns
that when you encounter something that
challenges or contradicts your world view, the natural response is
anger. So he recommends that you "Surrender
all firearms until the feelings pass!" :)) Go now!
InnerTalk -
Commercial site that sells subliminal tape programs for all kinds of
issues and goals. While there is obviously a lot of validity to
subliminal technology, I've used these kinds of tapes and never
really noticed anything to substantiate that they work. Placebo effect
or genuine aid to personal development? Of the many companies selling
subliminals, these ones by Eldon Taylor seem to be the most popular and
successful (or just well marketed!). Go Now!

Top 10 Personal Development Trainers
1. Jim Rohn
- a man of 100% solid integrity whose
teaching has inspired and continues to inspire millions of people
to help themselves to a better life - a life of quality, values
and success.
2. Brian Tracy - is a
self-help automaton! And that's a good thing. He is like a
production line for high quality, usable, practical, tried and
tested personal development information. I realy admire him for
living by the very principles that he teaches. There is no gush
here, just pragmatic, workable info to keep you on track for
fulfilling the potential of your life.
3. Tony Robbins
- a giant in every sense, Tony Robbins is
the Captain America cum Superman of Personal Development and
success coaching. Nobody beats him for adding energy and oomph to
your quest for personal development. Probably the greatest
populariser of NLP, he's has made it accessible to everyone.
His teachings on controlling / utilising your emotional state
are pure gold.
4. Denis Waitley - I like Denis Waitley.
He's supposed to be the most successful personal development
trainer (I read somewhere). I find him inspiring but not that
useful. Let me qualify that by admitting that I haven't listened
to any of his latest materials. Those that I do have, I enjoyed
but nothing particularly "stuck"!
5. Stuart
Wilde - Stuart Wilde doesn't really belong amongst a
list of personal development trainers, however it's my list so
I'll put him where I like! His brand of iconoclastic humor, new
age can-do and fake-it-til-you-make-it warrior spirit will empower
you faster than most "physical reality focussed" teachers can
ever hope to do.
6. Mark Victor
Hansen - Half a bowl of Chicken soup and a stick of
dynamite! I love MVH's largesse, wild approach and generous
vision. Teamed up with Robert Allen
to give the world One Minute Millionaire!
And the Chicken Soup For The Soul series continues to
bless and inspire millions of lives.
7. Louise Hay - You Can Heal Your
Life, her foundation product is a pivotal self-help tool that
allows you to recognise yourself as a creator in your life.
Overcome physical diseases, challenges and problems to
create the life of your dreams.
8. Robert Kiyosaki
- Rich Dad, Poor Dad author and
speaker Robert Kiyosaki teaches people to empower their financial
lives by steadily building and acquiring assets - a fundamental
and essential theme for personal development.
9. Stephen
Covey - another man of diamond integrity; I
personally find that Covey's language requires more chewing to
digest its meaning than some of the more pop culture personal
development teachers. His message focusses on fundamental
principles and values and you feel a connection to the very
bedrock of America when reading his works.
10. Napoleon Hill - posthumously still an enormously
powerful personal development guide. Probably an inspiration at
some time or another to every single personal development trainer
alive today. From his classic Think & Grow Rich,
Napoleon Hill set a standard that others to this day struggle to
come near. Unmissable.
Non-runner: Help yourself
by avoiding Dr Phil McGraw! What was
Oprah thinking when she let him on her
show. Now he's unstoppable. Aaaaaggghhh! Wily Jr saw him on
TV and got very upset, asking: Who's that horrible angry man?
